Breaking Barriers is all about empowering young women to break through the challenges that hold them back from employment.
We believe every young girl should have the chance to pursue meaningful opportunities.
Women in Africa face significant barriers that limit their access to education, employment, and opportunities compared to men. Many young girls are forced to leave school early due to poverty, gender discrimination, and child marriage, cutting off their chance to build independent, secure futures. In some regions, girls are twice as likely as boys to never set foot in a classroom.
When it comes to work, women often face higher unemployment rates, lower wages, and fewer leadership opportunities, despite being just as capable. By empowering women with education, career skills, and leadership training, we’re not just changing individual lives—we’re transforming communities and breaking cycles of poverty for future generations. An educated, empowered woman is a game-changer for her family, her community, and the world.
We collaborate with international organisations dedicated to empowering young women, building skills, and shaping futures in Africa. Whether it’s through mentorship, training, or hands-on project work, we’re focused on making a real difference.
Our mission is to help young people discover their strengths, gain career-ready skills, and grow into leaders ready to tackle the world. Breaking Barriers is about inspiring hope, creating lasting change, and building bridges that connect communities across continents.
Soft Skills Training: Helping young people develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed in the workplace.
Leadership Development: Providing mentorship and guidance to foster the next generation of leaders who will drive change in their communities.
Career Guidance and Job Preparation: Assisting youth with the tools they need to step confidently into the workforce and pursue meaningful opportunities
Our Work with Girl Up Africa: a United Nations Initiative
When Girls Rise, We All Rise. Girl Up envisions a more equitable and just world for girls and women, which benefits all people. Girl Up is a girl-centered leadership development initiative, focusing on equity for girls and women in spaces where they are unheard or underrepresented. Accelerate International Academy is proud to partner with them, by offering young women free career coaching, workshop and access to soft skills development.
